Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday said in Mumbai that decision regarding increase in the Minimum Support Price of cotton to the farmers will be announced in the winter session of the state assembly.The chief minister said this after a cabinet meeting was held this evening to discuss the issue of increasing Minimum Support Price to the farmers. He said that the decision on the minimum support price of cotton cannot be announced now as the code of conduct has been enforced for the upcoming civic polls.The chief minister also said that farmers will be given financial assistance for their agricultural products on the basis of per hectare instead of per quintal.The chief minister also appealed to those people who are on hunger strike for increasing the minimum support price for agricultural products to end their strike.The chief minister also held an all-party meeting and met representatives of farmer organisations to discuss on the issue earlier in the day.
