The Union Home Ministry has put Air India and all other planes operating in the South Asia region on high security alert. This follows intelligence inputs that Pakistan based LeT and other terrorist groups are planning to hijack a flight from the region. The Special Secretary, Internal Security, Mr. U.K. Bansal said in New Delhi that the alert has been issued after some intelligence inputs from western agencies.

AIR correspondent reports that mandatory secondary checks on all air crafts operating are being started following the alert and sky marshalls being deployed in the flights.

The alert has been given following inputs from western intelligence agencies. Naturally this led to heightening of security on airports. But there is no respite for the government. Reports say Pak based terrorist outfit LeT has acquired more than 50 paragliding equipments from Europe. This is a grave cause of concern for India with the republic day celebrations approaching fast That is why, It is high time for the world community to wake up and adopt a collaborative approach to punish those countries who have emerged as safe heavns for the terrorists particularly in India's neighbourhood.
