The high reaches of Himachal Pradesh received light to moderate snowfall on Wednesday morning. The tribal district of kinnaur received seasons first snow fall today and the minimum temperature dipped upto -5 degree Celsius in these areas. Mild snowfall was also witnessed at tourist resorts Kufri and Narkanda near Shimla, thus raising hopes for a white New Year.The snow fall in the tribal district has brought cheers to the farmers who were facing drought like situation. Despite biting cold the candidates fighting panchayat elections went door to door for canvassing for the second phase of poll scheduled to be held on Thursday. The Lahaul valley is also receiving mild snow since morning. The entire state is in a grip of cold wave and its raining since morning. The hope high to have white New Year as the met department has predicted snow at many tourist places. The tourists are thronging the state to experience snow and almost all hotels are fully packed. Tourists were jubilant in the state after expecting snowfall on New Year eve in Shimla.
