Center will soon depute a high level committee in Odisha to assess its food grain storage requirements. It will also provide all possible assistance to the state for modernization of its Public Distribution System, PDS. This was stated by Food and Public Distribution Minister, Prof. K.V. Thomas, while having discussions with Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik in New Delhi. Prof. Thomas said that government is taking all possible measures to create additional storage capacity throughout the country. He said that the ministry has requested the state to ensure timely lifting of PDS food grains so that more allocation can be made to the states.
