High, HS schools open for one to two months during winter holidays in Kashmir

To compensate the loss of education to students in the Kashmir Valley during the three month long unrest, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to keep High and Higher Secondary schools open for one to two months during the winter holidays.State Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has said that the students of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th standards will be taught the syllabus which they could not complete due to recent turmoil.The minister added that heating facilities would be provided to the students and teachers in order to keep classes going on during the chilly winter months.He apprised that a project seeking funds in this regard has been sent to the Chief Minister and about Rs 6 crores are expected to be spent on providing heating facilities to the schools.He appealed the parents and students for the co-operation to help the department in saving this academic session.
