Talking to reporters, he said that the home department has taken the matter very seriously and all the investigating agencies have been put on the task. He reviewed the security situation in the state with senior officials.
Delhi was put on heightened vigil with the deployment of armed police personnel across the city in the wake of the bomb blasts in Pune. Roads were barricaded and vehicles were checked while security was strengthened at vital installations like the Parliament and other key buildings. In Kolkata, radio flying squads have been asked to maintain vigil in all sensitive areas of the city.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that a probe was on into the blast that occurred in Pune.
At this moment, I cannot say more than this. Matter is under inquiry and as and when inquiry is completed, I will let you know.
Minister of State for Home, Mr. Jitendra Singh has appealed to the people to maintain calm in the wake of the blasts in Pune.
Union Home Secretary R K Singh said the terror angle cannot be ruled out since it seems to be a planned attack. Mr. Singh said that a man allegedly carrying one of the bombs was injured in the explosions and has been taken into custody and is being interrogated. He has been admitted to a local hospital.
The explosions were of low intensity. And the police is investigating this. But, because four explosions took place within a kilometre, that's why we felt it necessary to investigate into the matter. NIA team is leaving for Pune to help the Pune police. NSG's post blast team is also leaving for Pune.
Meanwhile, Police found a yellow sticky substance splattered at each of the blast spots on J.M.Road. It was smeared over a small detonator, which was wired to a pencil cell to create a crude explosive. According to the Pune Police Commissioner Mr. Gulabrao Pol the act is more of a mischievous one and not a terror attack. An intensive search operation has been launched across the city. The Anti-Terror squad had rushed to the spot yesterday and a thorough probe is going on.
Earlier, four low intensity serial blasts occurred last evening in Pune in which one person has been injured. The explosions took place between 7.30 and 8.00 pm during rush hour in the heart of the city on the busy Junglee Maharaj Road.
