In Chhattisgarh, a high alert has been sounded in the wake of cyclone Phailin.
Southern part of Chhattisgarh, which borders with Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, and state’s northern region that borders Orissa could experience strong winds and heavy rainfall due to impact of cyclone Phailin.
According to our correspondent Vikalp Shukla, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh convened a high level meeting to review the disaster management preparedness. All the hospitals will be kept open round the clock ensuring deployment of doctors and para-medical staff. Disaster management control rooms in all the districts will be also open.
A meeting headed by state’s chief secretary Sunil Kumar directed the authorities concerned to closely monitor the water level in state’s all reservoirs so that water could be timely released keeping in view of the inflow. Motor boats, life-jackets and other essential items are being mobilized while a team of divers are ready at sensitive areas for any rescue operations.
Many trains passing through different parts of the state have been cancelled, diverted or terminated midway as a precautionary measure.
