High alert across UP to maintain vigil during R Day functions

<br/>In Uttar Pradesh, high alert has been sounded in all the 71 districts of the state to maintain vigil during the Republic Day functions after intelligence inputs of terrorist threats.<br/><br/>Quoting police sources AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, special security arrangements have been made in Ayodhya in Faizabad, Agra for Taj Mahal, Varanasi , Mathura and other sensitive places in the state. The anti-mine sabotage and anti-bomb squads would be used round the clock. District police officials have been asked to step up patrolling while keeping a close watch on the hotels, dharamsalas, bus stands, railway stations, airports, markets, multiplexes and other sensitive places.<br/><br/>The railway police have also been asked to monitor the entry of passengers in the railway stations besides use dog squads to check the luggage of the passengers. State Director General of Police Mr. Karamveer Singh has issued directives in this regard.<br/><br/>All the districts of the state, which share their border with Nepal , have been put on high alert. The Sashastra Seema Bal has stepped up vigil along the Indo-Nepal border.<br/><br/>To prevent the movement of terrorists in the area, the security agencies have been asked to ascertain the identities of people before allowing them to cross the border. Intelligence units have also been asked to keep an eye on religious places along the border.
