While polling is going on for the sixth phase of elections, top political leaders are involved in hectic campaigning in seventh phase areas.The elections for 60 assembly constituencies spread over in 10 districts of westrern and terai regions will be held on 3rd of March. The districts going polls in this phase include Bijnor, Moradabad, Bhim Nagar, Rampur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Budaun (cnk;wa), Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjehanpur, and Kheri.A total of 17 thousand six hundred and forty polling stations will be established for over 1.8 Crore voters in this phase. A total of 962 candidates including 100 women are trying in this phase. Our correspondent reports that the national parties have fielded only 19 candidates in this phase.Several prominent leaders have addressed rallies and corner meetings in the area today. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh addressed a rally in Amroha in Jyotiba Phule Nagar yesterday. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi held a road show in Shahjahanpur. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav addressed election rallies in Bijnore and Moradabad. BJP leaders Kalraj Mishra and Hema Malini also held rallies in different parts of Bareilly and Lakhimpur Kheri.The election commission has engaged voluntary organisations to spread voter awareness and to motivate them to vote. Fool-proof security arrangements have been made for safe keeping of Electronic Voting Machine in the areas where poll process has finished. The spokesperson of election commission said that the security of EVMs has been reviewed in some districts and was found satisfactory.
