In Chhattisgarh, flash floods caused by heavy torrential rains in Naxal-hit Bastar district has hit over 9,000 people in the region. Life is however, slowly returning to normal after the flood water receded from many areas. Water levels in the major rivers like the Indravati and the Narangi have come down. National Highway 43 connecting Raipur with Jagdalpur that remained cut off for more than 2 days due to heavy rain, has been opened to vehicular traffic. However, thousands of affected villages continue to reside in the relief camps set up by the district administration. Apart from relief work the district authorities are now engaged in assessing the post flood damage caused in Bustar that may run into crores of rupees.
