Heavy torrential rains & floods hit Naxal-hit Bastar district

In Chhattisgarh, about 10,000 people have been lodged in various relief camps in the flood ravaged Bastar district. The District Administration together with the support of the NGOs and the general public have been actively engaged in rescue and relief operations. Though there has been no rain in Bastar during the last 24 hours, yet the Indravati river continues to flow about one metre above the danger level. However, water levels in many rivers of Bastar have started slowly coming down. Vehicular communications on various roads passing through the district including the National Highway-43 has fully resumed after the flood water receded.
