Heavy to moderate rain reported in UP

In Uttar Pradesh light to moderate rain is reported from most parts of the state. Maximum 45 mm rain was recorded at Kanpur while minimum point three mm was recorded at Meerut during last 24 hours.Our Lucknow correspondent reports that due to heavy water discharge from Tajewal, Banbasa, Narora and Girija Barrages River Ganga, Yamuna and Sharda are in spate and their flood water entered in several villages in Badaun, Meerut, Bijnore, Jyotibaphule Nagar and Lakhimpur Kheri districts. It has also damaged standing crops in thousand acres of land. In Bijnore, Rampur and Meerut districts many people have been shifted at safe places and relief camps. In Ghaziabad, Meerut and Farrukhabad districts administration has issued alert to residents of low-lying areas. More than 1lakh fifty thousand cusecs of water was released from Haridwar and Bijnore districts in the river Ganga. Water level of river Melon and Kho is receding. In Pilibhit district more than 76 thousand cusecs of water was released today from Banbasa barrage to the river Sharda and it has affected several villages in the Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit districts.Meanwhile planting of siblings of paddy is taking place in full swing in most of the district but in nearly 10 districts it was delayed due to short of normal rains.
