Heavy to moderate rain raises water level of major rivers in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, heavy to moderate rain has again raised the water level of major rivers in several eastern and western districts. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the sky is overcast in most of the eastern districts.Heavy rain has caused swelling of Ganga in Varanasi and Ghazipur districts. The rain is said to be beneficial for Kharif crops as the paddy fields had started drying up due to week-long dry spell and bright sunshine. Heavy rain has caused water logging in several city areas. The met office has predicted isolated rain in western UP during next 24 hours.
