Heavy rains lash Rajasthan: Rivers in UP flowing above danger mark

Heavy rains lashed Rajasthan with Jaisalmer receiving a maximum rainfall of 39 mm till Wednesday morning. MeT department said, Bundi received 37 mm, Sawaimadhopur 35 mm and Rawatbhata got 33 mm of rains. Meanwhile, Jaipur and Ajmer were among other places which received light showers on Wednesday.In Uttar Pradesh, monsoon is quite active in western, Bundelkhand and eastern regions of the state. In Jhansi, Mirzapur, Bareli and Meerut divisions, heavy to normal rains are reported during last 24 hours. Due to heavy rains and water discharge from various barrages River Ganga, Sharda, Ghaghara, Ramganga, Kosi, Rapti and Melon are flowing above danger mark at several places in Western, Terai and Eastern regions of the state. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that in Farrukhabad, Ghaziabad and Meerut districts local administration has issued alert to residents of low-lying areas. In Ghaziabad District River Ganga and Yamuna are swelling and due to rains and extra water discharge into the rivers by Haryana and Uttarakhand. As per central water commission reports River Ganga is raising at Kannauj, Kanpur and Allahabad while rive Yamuna is also swelling at Mathura and Etawah districts. In Meerut district, hundreds of people have been shifted at relief centers from the villages marooned with flood water of river Ganga. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent says that light to medium rainfall has occurred on Wednesday in some eastern districts after a gap of two days.
