Heavy rains lash coastal TN

The Coastal parts of Tamil Nadu received widespread heavy rains today. The Met department has predicted more rains in the next 24 hours due to a well marked low pressure area over Cape Comorin which may turn to a depression.Holiday was declared for schools in 12 districts including Chennai and Tiruchirapalli due to heavy rains.Fishermen have been warned not to venture into sea as heavy winds may occur due to squally weather.Ports were asked to host warning signal number 3 at all parts of South Tamilnadu and Kerala.The highest rainfall of 20 cms was recorded at Tiruvadanai in Ramanathapuram district Tiruvarur,Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Villupuram which recorded more than 15 cms of rainfall.Normal life was thrown out of gear as Chennai recorded ten cms rainfall today.
