In Chhatisgarh, flash floods caused by heavy torrential rains in Naxal-hit Bastar district of Chhattisgarh has hit over 9,000 people in the region. Floods in several villages threw life out of gear and many highways in Bastar region have been cut off due to rains. Indravati and other adjoining rivers in the district were flowing close to their danger levels while several other tributaries were swelling up fast due to continuous showers. Also round-the-clock flood alert groups have been set in district headquarters and tehsils to keep a check on the situation.
