Heavy rains disrupts normal life in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, the huge downpour which lashed the entire belt of Konkan has disrupted the normal life in the region. Since last four days the rains have lashed the whole Konkan region due to which vehicular movement in these areas have been badly affected. Due to major rivers crossing the danger mark there is a flood like situation in Arjuna, Kajli, Shastri, Sonavi, Vashisti and Jagbudi rivers which has disrupted the normal life in these areas. AIR correspondent from Ratnagiri reports that due to heavy waterlogging in Khed market traffic has been diverted from alternate route which goes to Dapoli and Mundungadh.In Sindhudurg also heavy rainfall is still continuing which has disrupted the traffic movement. Due to incessant rainfall at Kudal, Vengurley and Malwan the farmland has gone under water. The railway movement which was disrupted due to landslide at Gopalwadi tunnel has been cleared now and train service is returning back to normal.In Raigad district till now 2425 mm of rainfall has been recorded. The highest rainfall in the district was recorded in Roha with 267 mm of rainfall. Meanwhile in the district one woman lost her life as she was swept away in the flood water. Incidents of landslide, house collapse have been reported from several parts in the district.The huge downpour which lashed Mumbai city and suburbs till today morning has normalised. There has been less rainfall since afternoon. Normalcy is slowly returning back in the city. Besides Nalasopara and Virar no major water logging was reported in other parts of the city and suburb.The Met department in Mumbai has informed that in colaba 17.09 mm of rainfall was recorded. While in Santacruz 49.09 mm of rainfall was recorded today. The met department has forecast that there will be intermittent rainfall or shower in parts of city and suburbs with heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by strong gusty winds in some areas.Meanwhile due to landslide in Mhasala ghat the traffic movement was blocked. After a gap of few days rainfall has continued again in Koyanagar and Mahabaleshwar area.
