Heavy rains disrupt Chardham yatra in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, 'Chaar Dham Yatra' has been disrupted again as rain continued at various places in the state. The Border Road Organization and other administratative officials have been working round the clock to ensure continuity of the roads. Met Department predicts more rain in coming 24 hours.AIR correspondent Raghvesh Pandey reports from Dehradun that many link roads and highways continued to be closed for more than a fortnight in hilly areas of state. People are compelled to walk 10-15 kms. to get a mode of transport for reaching a bigger settlement. Haridwar – Delhi highway also disrupted following the rain. According to reports the farmers of the hill areas have been at the receiving end this year due to dry spell in summer and now with excessive rain. Meanwhile, three more deaths reported because of the spread of measles among the children in Kumaon division.
