The low pressure area extending from Comorin area to west central bay of south coastal Andhra Pradesh across Gulf of Mannar and southwest bay of Tamil Nadu coast continued to persist bringing more rains to south Tamil Nadu for the fourth day today.

The Met Department has predicted more rains for the next 24 hours in many places of the State specifically in the hilly areas of Nilgiris and Dindigul.

The Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa took stock of the situation due to rains yesterday . The number of deaths due to rain related incidents have been put at 20 during the last two days.

Our correspondent reports that Chief Minister has announced a relief of Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand rupees to the affected families.
