In Punjab, incessant rainfall and flood like situation at several places has badly affected the Kharif crops of paddy, cotton and maize. The rainfall has flattened the standing crops at many places. Agricultural experts feel that heavy rainfall in this season, when crops are near maturity would affect the quality and quantity of yield. The cotton crop is worst hit as rain had badly damaged both matured and unmatured cotton bulbs. Agricultural experts feel that damage to paddy crop will be in the range of 5 to 10 percent.
