Due to heavy rainfall during past 48 hours in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the water level has increased in several rivers and scores of villages in western UP are surrounded by flood. The situation has worsened in Barabanki and Gonda districts as water level increased in Ghaghra river. Several villages of Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Bijnore districts have been surrounded by flood and rescue operation is on.
