Several places in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab were lashed by heavy rains today.In Uttar Pradesh, almost all the places received rains and in many places between 70 millimeter to 140 millimeter rainfall has recorded. According to central water commission almost all the Places Rivers are rising. Gaghra river has crossed the danger mark in Barabanki and Ayodhya while sharda river also reaching towards danger mark in sharda Nagar.Ganga is also rising in Varansi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur and Yamuna is in spate in Mathura, Agra and Meerut. According to Met department, several places of Gorakhpur and Basti divisions recorded 140 millimeter rain fall during last twenty four hours.Five to 10 centimetres of rainfall has occurred in different eastern and western districts of UP. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the normal traffic was disrupted in many districts due falling of road side trees and electric poles. The low-lying areas of the urban areas were waterlogged. The major rivers, Sharda, Ganga, Ramganga, Ghaghra and Bari Gandak rivers are rising.AIR correspondent reports that the river Ghaghra is flowing above the danger mark in Barabanki and Ayodhya while in Turtipar, the river has crossed the warning level. Ramganga river is rising in Moradabad. The met office has predicted more rain in the catchments of these rivers.In Himachal Pradesh, with the level of the Bhakra dam reservoir continuing to rise following heavy rains. The Bhakra beas management board has cautioned the Punjab government to remain prepared to tackle the situation. The board has officially conveyed to Punjab chief secretary S.C Aggarwal to make all arrangements for the residents living in low lying areas around the Satluj. In Punjab, villages on the banks of Satluj river have been alerted of a possible flood because of the extra water released Gobind Sagar reservoir of Bhakhra Dam. Roop Nagar district administration has identified 91 villages in the district where flood like situation may arise after water release. District administration has equipped itself to deal with the situation by setting up flood control rooms.
