Heavy Rainfall Alert in Tamil Nadu: Cuddalore, Thanjavur, and Tiruvarur Districts Expected to Witness Intense Rains

In Tamil Nadu, the Regional Met Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places over Cuddalore, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts. Moderate rains are likely over other districts in North Tamil Nadu and also in interior parts of the State. The upper air cyclonic circulation over South West Bay of Bengal continues to prevail in a static position. Rains are likely to continue due to the formation of a low pressure over South east of the Bay of Bengal under its influence.<br />'' <br />''The low-pressure trough extends from the southwest and adjoining Sri Lanka to the low-pressure area over South East Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea. It is likely to move north westwards and intensify into a deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast tomorrow. The Weather department also said that it would recurve north eastwards and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha Coast on 17th November.<br />'' <br />''As the North East monsoon advances, Tamil Nadu is witnessing rainfall in many coastal areas and also in delta districts.  Velankanni in Nagapattinam district recorded 11 cms rainfall. Many parts of Chennai and suburban areas received ten to 19cms of rainfall in the last 24 hours.
