In Odisha, heavy rain and thunder-squall have ravaged northern and coastal parts of the state. Three persons have been killed in lightning in Khaliadi village of Mayurbhanj district, while a large number of thatched houses, electric poles, hoardings in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack and Khordha district have been damaged in the rain and thunderstorm accompanied with a wind speed of over 70 km per hour. Reports of injury to a number of persons, cattle and livestock due to lightning have also been received from different parts of Odisha. Electric supply, telephone and television network in any places including capital city of Bhubaneswar have been disrupted following the rain and thunderstorm.
