In Odisha, about 10 persons have died and many others injured due to heavy rain and lightening that lashed many districts of the state last evening. Normal life was thrown out of gear in Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Kendrapara district due to the stormy winds and heavy rain. Many trees and electric poles were uprooted causing much inconvenience to the common people. Road communications and supply of electricity have also been badly affected in these districts due to thundershowers. Although the rain brought some relief from the scorching heatwave in some parts of Odisha, waterlogging and power failure have added to the woes of the residents.
