In Uttar Pradesh, almost all the major rivers continue to rise at most of the places due to incessant rain. Heavy rain has been reported in Nepal and heights of Uttarakhand due to which additional water has been released from various barrages in Ganga, Yamuna and Ghaghra. AIR correspondent says that the level of the rivers in eastern UP is also rising.While the river Ganga in Kannauj and Yamuna in Mathura is on rising trend and nearing the danger level, several mountain rivers including Banganga, Kunhara, Rohin and rivulet Jamuar are continuously rising. Burhi Gandak River in Khadda is flowing above the warning level.One to five centimetres of rainfall has occurred in central, eastern and western districts on Sunday. The sky is cloudy in a major portion but still several districts in Bundelkhand and Varanasi and adjoining areas in eastern UP are still devoid of rain.In Uttrakhand, dozens of villages have been flooded due to wide spread rain. Hundreds of people have been rescued from affected areas. Met department predicts more rain in coming 24 hours.In Haridwar, dozens of villages are flooded in Shyampur and Luxar area due to rising water level of river Ganga. According to administrative sources, river Ganga is flowing 70 centimeter above danger mark.The district administration rescued about 100 people, who were stranded due to flood. Meanwhile, a bridge was swept away following heavy rain in Nainital. The movement of vehicle has been disrupted at Chardham Yatra route and many other highways in the state following the landsides. As a result supply of essential commodities has been hit.
