Heavy rain lashes Mumbai and Konkan region

After a dry spell of few days, heavy rain has again lashed Mumbai and Konkan region since Tuesday evening leading to disruption of train services in Konkan Railway. AIR correspondent from Ratnagiri reports that at around 2.45 am this morning, landslide had occurred in the Pomendi area of the district leading to disruption of regular train services between Ratnagiri and Adavli stations. While Konkan Kanya Express running between Mumbai and Madgaon has been halted in Ratnagiri station, Mangala Express running between Ernakulam and New Delhi has been rested in Adavli station. Railway authorities said that they are clearing the debris to re instate the normal services at the earliest. Besides Ratnagiri, heavy rain also occurred in Sindhudurg and Raighad districts. However, no major water logging or flooding has been reported so far. Mumbai also witnessed a heavy rainfall since last 24 hours. However, BMC sources said that there has been no case of water logging or flooding from any part of the city. Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecast a heavy rainfall for Mumbai in the next 24 hours.
