Heavy rain lashes in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan

Heavy rains lashed parts of Haryana and Punjab since Monday night leading to a sharp fall in mercury. Chandigarh was also hit by heavy rains since Monday evening flooding low-lying areas. Office-goers were the worst hit as heavy showers continued this morning. While the maximum in Chandigarh yesterday had dropped to 30 degrees Celsius, the minimum today came down to 19.4 deg C. The minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana also dropped considerably today and settled in the range of 17 degrees Celsius to 21 degrees Celsius. In Rajasthan, rain lashed most of the places in last 24 hours. In some parts of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer Barmer heavy rain affected normal life yesterday but today situation is normal. 90 mm rain has been recorded in Phalodi of Jodhpur distt. In Bikaner 77mm and at Churu 35 mm rain has been recorded in last 24 hours. In Jaisalmer, after heavy rain Army has been alerted. Meanwhile Phet cyclone has passed from Rajasthan and entered Haryana. <br/>
