Heavy rain lash Himachal, Uttrakhand, UP

In Himachal Pradesh, with the level of the Bhakra dam reservoir continuing to rise following heavy rains the Bhakra beas management board has cautioned the Punjab government to remain prepared to tackle the situation, as the flood gates may be opened by Friday afternoon. The board has officially conveyed to Punjab chief secretary S.C Aggarwal to make all arrangements for the residents living in low lying areas around Satluj. In Uttarakhand four more people were killed in rain related incident on Friday. Road communications were disrupted in the state at various places due to landslides following heavy rain. Met department has predicted heavy rain may occur at few places. AIR correspondent reports, state capital Dehradun and some other places have been experiencing rainfall from last evening. Wide spread shower occurred in various parts of the state during last 24 hours. Many roads including Char Dham yatra rout have been disrupted due to landslide following heavy rain at various places especially in Kumao division. Supply of essential commodities has been also affected due to road block. Meanwhile following heavy rain in the catchments areas of Sharda, Saryu Ganga, Yamuna and its tributaries water levels are constantly rising. People are facing problems in Chamapawat and Udhamsingh Nagar district because of flood like situation. District authorities claimed that preventive measures have been taken to meet any eventuality. Director met department Anand Sharma told that light to moderate rain may occur at various places in coming 24 hours. In Uttar Pradesh almost all the places rains were recorded and in many places between 70 millimeter to 140 millimeter rainfall has recorded. According to central water commission almost all the Places Rivers are rising. Gaghra river has crossed the danger mark in Barabanki and Ayodhya while Sharda river also reaching towards danger mark in Sharda Nagar. Ganga is also rising in Varansi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur and Yamuna is rising in Mathura, Agra and Meerut. According to Met department in several places of Gorakhpur and Basti divisions recorded 140 millimeter rain fall during last twenty four hours. While Barabanki recorded 100mm rain and Lakhimpur Khiri recorded 70mm rain fall during last one day. Food alert has already been issued for eight districts in Uttar PradeshAccording to state Flood Control Unit the Flood alert has been issued for Pilibhit, Bahraich, and Lakhimpur Khiri. Sitapur, Barabanki, Faizabad, Gonda and Moradabad districts.
