Heavy rain kills six in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, six persons were killed and dozens of houses were damaged following the heavy rain on Monday. Meanwhile roads leading to shrines of Gangotri and Badrinath are blocked for more than a week now. Met department has predicted possibility of moderate to heavy rain at various places in the next 24 hours.In Dehradun five labourers were killed when the building in which they were sleeping collapsed due to a cloudburst in Karligarh village in the wee hours on Monday. The incident took place at the panchayat ghar that got caved in due to cloudburst. Meanwhile Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal visited the affected area and announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh each to the kin of the deceased. He also directed for shifting the villagers to safer places. In another incident one person was killed following a rock fall in Uttarakashi near Dharasu Band.
