Heavy rain kills 12 in Vietnam

In Vietnam, 12 persons have been killed and nine others reported missing following incessant heavy rain in central parts of the country. Officials said most of the victims are from Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Thua Thien-Hue provinces and the water level continue to rise in these provinces fearing more damages. Mediareports say that several parts of the national highway, a key road running from north to south in the country, are under water. Rail link between the north and south has also been suspended and thousands of passengers are stranded at the stations.
