Heavy rain in the past day has increased the water level of almost all the major rivers of Manipur, Imphal River, Iril River, Thoubal River and Nambu River are flowing at the flood level. Many low lying areas including paddy have been submerged and several hectares of standing crops were damaged. Fish farms were washed away. Severely affected areas are Khangabok, Thoubal, Wandgjing, Sugnu, Wangoo in Thoubal District. Konthoujam and Khabi in Imphal West District, Nambol and Oinam in Bishnupur Districs. The water Level of Loktak lake, the largest fresh water lake in the North-East is also on the rise affecting nearby paddy fields and fish farms. Among the hill districts of Manipur, several hectares of paddy and maize growing fields have been submerged by flash flood overflowed from Chakpi River near the Chandel District Headquarters at a stretch of about two kilometers. Incessant rain since the past three days has increased the water level of almost all the major river flowing through the four valley districts and the hill district of Chandel in Manipur. Water over flowed from the rivers at the catchment areas has submerged many low lying areas including several hectares of paddy and maize growing fields. The over flowed water was damaged standing crops and washed away fish farms. The highly affected areas in Bishnupur District are Nambol, Oinam, Naorem and Waheng Khuman. In Thoubal District, Lillong, Wangjing, Kakching, Sekmaijing, Thoubal and Khangabok are the most affected areas.
