The West Bengal Government has issued an alert in South Bengal district in view of MET department's warning of heavy rain in next 72 hrs. Talking to reporters in Kolkata on Sunday, the state Irrigation Minister Dr. Manas Bhuiya said that district authorities have been instructed to keep vigil on all rivers' water level and to give advance announcement before discharging water form Barrages. Meanwhile, Kolkata and adjoining areas experienced scattered rain fall through out the day on Sunday.
