In Tamilnadu, rain continued to lash the coastal district for more than a week. Incessant rain have taken heavy toll on people, infrastructure, agriculture and cattle. In Cuddalur alone, the death toll is at 29 raising the total number of deaths in the State to 181. The State Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi has called for a state cabinet meeting today to discuss the relief matter and to take stock of the situation. Earlier eight top officials of the Government were appointed to visit the rain hit areas and assess the damages caused by the monsoon. Almost all the reservoirs in the state have reached the maximum level.
