Heavy rain has pounded coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry since this afternoon. <br/><br/>It has led to recurrence of inundation in many low lying areas. In some places, authorities cut off power supply on fears of electrocution. <br/><br/>The Meteorology officials have observed two weather systems in the region, including a new upper air circulation in the Gulf of Mannar close to Rameswaram. <br/><br/>The other is the Low-Pressure Area that is spread over Tamil and southern Andhra coast and the East Central Bay. <br/><br/>Under their influence, widespread rain has been forecast in coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with the possibility of heavy rain in some places. <br/><br/>A few areas in interior Tamil Nadu are also expected to witness precipitation. Fishermen have been asked to exercise caution while venturing into the sea.
