Heavy rain continues in eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga and Yamuna rivers continue to swell due to heavy downpour in their catchments. The river Ganga has crossed the danger mark in Ghazipur and Ballia and is maintaining a rising trend. The Ghaghra River has subsided below the danger mark in Gonda, Barabanki and Ayodhya but there is little improvement on the flood situation in these districts. More than 200 villages with a population of over 2 lakh people still remains affected. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that normal life has been severely affected due to heavy downpour in several districts.
