In Kerela, five people including one child lost their lives in Thiruvananthapuram with heavy rain lashing at many parts of the state duirng the last twenty four hours. The met department says, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in the state during the next two days. Apart from the capital district, Allappuzha and Kottayam districts received heavy rain. In Alleppey, more than 12000 acres of paddy fileds have been submerged. In Thiruvanathapuram, several low lying areas are under water and relief camps have been opened in five places. The state government, after an emergency meeting, has declared one lakh rupees for houses totally destroyed.
