Heavy rain has paralysed life in Uttarakhand, particularly in the hilly regions. Badrinath National Highway is closed at many places due to landslides. Thousand of pilgrims have been stranded on both sides of the national highway. Border Road Organisation has taken up the task to clear the highway. Reports of cloud burst have been reported from the districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Tehri. However, only one casualty has been reported from Chamoli district, where a woman was buried alive. In Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts, more than a dozen cattle have also been buried alive due to cloud burst and debris. Large number of cow-sheds and six houses have also been damaged. In Kothar village of Tehri district, cloud burst has badly damaged fields of around 40 families. However, so far, no casualty has been reported from Tehri district.
