In West Bengal, nine districts of the State have been affected due to heavy rain since last few days. The State Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Partha Chatterjee informed the State Assembly on Thursday that six persons were killed in rain related incidents so far. Altogether 40 Municipalities and 1625 villages have been affected. The State Chief Minister, Miss Mamata Banerjee has appealed all political parties to work unitedly to deal with the situation. Miss Banerjee informed the House that adequate relief materials have been sent to the affected districts. The State Government is constantly monitoring the situation.AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that river embankments have been breached in many areas and some rivers are flowing above danger levers following continues rains resulting inundation of vast areas in South Bengal Districts. The State Government has requested the Damodar Valley Corporation not to release additional water from its barrages without informing the administration.
