In Odisha, the heavy rain has added more woes to millions of flood-affected people. A large number flood-hit people are starving for four days in inaccessible and cut-off areas as relief materials are yet to reach them. The affected-people have taken shelter over river embankments or over roof-top .According to reports received from Odisha Government, 20 persons have lost their lives in the devastating flood. Nine more persons are reported to have swept away or drowned in flood water but their bodies are yet to be traced. The death toll is likely to be much more in the flood.Meanwhile, water has started receding in almost all the major rivers of Odisha. Though water has started receding in Mahanadi and its tributaries, half of the over 25 lakh affected people are yet to return to their home. A large number of villages have become inaccessible as flood water has done excessive damage to road communication. As many as 3973 villages and 15 cities have been badly affected in the current flood in 19 of the 30 districts in the state.
