Heavy polling in MP, Mizoram; Campaigning hots up in Delhi, Rajasthan

In Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections on Monday, highest ever polling of over 70 per cent was recorded.

Poll percentage is likely to go up as exact figures are yet to come in from all the polling stations said Deputy Election Commissioner, Sudhir Tripathi while talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday evening.

AIR Bhopal correspondent reports that barring few incidents of violence the polling remained by and large peaceful.

In Mizoram, heavy polling has been recorded in assembly polls on Monday . According to Election Officials of the state more than 81 percent has been polled.

The polling was peaceful and no untoward incident is reported till the end of polling which ended at 4 this afternoon. Final voter turnout is awaited from far flung polling stations.

AIR correspondent adds as per the latest report the highest voter turnout is expected in Mizoram assembly election.

The present report which does not include service voters and Bru voters that had been exercised their franchise earlier through postal ballot.

With the peaceful completion of polling on Monday the fate of 142 candidates for 40 assembly seat is now sealed in EVM and postal ballot boxes.

On 9th of next month it is to be seen that which party will come to power in the state.

For the first time in the country, Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trails were used on a larger scale in ten Aizawl Assembly segments.

As the last date for polling in Delhi and Rajasthan is approaching, political parties are making all out efforts to woo the voters.

In Rajasthan, top leaders of Congress are campaigning along with BJP and CPIM to seek the support of voters.

AIR Correspondent adds prominent among those who addressed election rallies include Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi and BJP's Prime Ministerial Candidate, Narendra Modi.

More than 50 public meetings were organised in the State.

In the National Capital Delhi, top leaders of political parties have joined the election campaign.

The main contest is between the ruling Congress, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party.

Corruption, price rise, development and a responsive administration are some of the key issues that are being taken up by the leaders in most of the rallies.
