In North Korea, Sinuiju City and Uiju County have been hit by serious floods caused by heavy rain. According to the official news agency KCNA, more than 7,100 dwelling blocks for 7,750 families were destroyed. The KCNA today said an estimated 7,200 hectares of farmlands were flooded, while more than 300 production-related and public buildings, 400 meters of bridges, and many structures, vehicles, water pumps and electromotors were damaged. Many power transmission installations were also ruined. The agency said the government is working hard to resume and stabilize the lives of the flood victims.
