Heaviest rain in China

In China, about five lakh people have been evacuated in Hainan province after the heaviest rains inundated 90 per cent of the Chinese island in the South China Sea. Further downpours have been forecast for Wednesday, threatening more damage to homes, infrastructure and crops across the island. The floods have affected 2.7 million people in 16 cities and forced schools to close. More than 3,000 houses have been destroyed by flooding and over 40 reservoirs and nearly 170,000 hectares of crops has been damaged.
