The searing heatwave continues to hold Odisha in a vice-like grip as mercury level continue to remain more than 44 degree celsius in most parts of the state. The capital city Bhubaneswar remained the hottest city in the state with 45.6 degree celisus today. Maximum day temperature in cities like Talcher, Chandbali, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Hirakud, Bhawanipatna, Angul and Bhawanipatna has been recorded 44 degree celsius and more. The heatwave was so unbearable that most of the roads wore a deserted look throughout the day, barring an option-less few. According to Bhubaneswar Meterological office, the heatwave condition is likely to prevail for another 24 hours. However, rain or thundershower are likely to occur at one or two places with wind speed ranging from 60 to 70 km per hour during the next 24 hours. The state is likely to experience pre-monsoon rain day after tomorrow.
