Heat wave continued to grip North India today with temperatures breaching the 45 degree mark at several
places in the region.
The hot weather conditions continued to prevail at many places in Punjab and Haryana. According to MeT office, Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 40.3 deg Celsius, one notch above normal.
Uttar Pradesh sizzled under an intense heat wave with the temperature rising up to five degrees above normal at some places in the state.
Allahabad continued to be the hottest place in the state recording 47.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Agra with 46.1 degrees Celsius .
Dusty winds and rising mercury scorched Rajasthan as well with the average temperature staying above 40 degrees Celsius in most places. Our Jaipur correspondent reports that Vanasthali is the hottest place in the state where maximum temperature was recorded 44.4 degree Celsius.
Odisha is reeling under intense heat wave with Sambalpur remained hottest place in the State where the mercury soared to 46.7 degree Celsius today.
However, the national capital Delhi got some respite from the heat with the maximum temperature dropping to 42.7 degrees Celsius from yesterday's 44 degrees Celsius.
