Northern India continues to be in the grip of severe heat wave. Haryana continues to reel under the smoldering heat. Hissar sizzzled at 47.9 degrees celsius while Karnal recorded a high of 45 degrees celsius. Chandigargh too saw the mercury touch a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees celsius.<br/> <br/>Punjab witnessed searing heat with Amritsar recording a high of 47 degrees celsius while the maximum temperature touched 46.5 degrees in Ludhiana.<br/> <br/>A severe heat wave is also sweeping across Madhya Pradesh.Gwalior bore the brunt of the extreme hot conditions with the maximum temperature settling at a high of 46.1 degrees celsius. Jabalpur recorded a high of 44.7degrees celsius. Parbhani in Maharshtra baked at a high of 45.5 degrees celsius.<br/> <br/>In Maharashtra, unrelenting hot conditions have resulted in 61 deaths.<br/> <br/>In Orissa, the extreme heat has claimed at least 25 deaths. <br/> <br/>Rajasthan too reeled under the intense heat with Kota witnessing a high of 48.4 degrees celsius, while both Bikaner and Jaisalmer too recorded the maximum temperature as 47 and 48 degrees respectively. <br/> <br/>Heat condition still prevails in Uttar Pradesh especially in Bundelkhand region. Jhansi–was the hottest place with -46.8 degree Celsius during last twenty four hours. Agra recorded 46.2 degree Celsius .raising temperature. <br/> <br/>In the national capital, the heat wave continues unabated. The maximum temperature recorded was 45.2 degrees celsius, a 4 degree increase from normal.<br/> <br/>The minimum settled at 28.8 degrees celsius. Frequent power cuts and erratic water supply have led many localities to be rendered as parched thereby compounding the miseries of the citizens. <br/>
