Several parts of the country continue to be in the grip of scorching heat wave, with deteriorating weather condition taking a toll on the health of the people.
In Nagpur, the severe heat wave continues to prevail in various districts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. A drought like situation is brewing up in the region, with mercury soaring to a new high during the on-going summer which was hovering around 44 degrees Celsius for the last few days.
Nagpur city recorded maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius registering the highest maximum temperature of the current summer season today. Similar conditions are expected to continue in the region for the next couple of days, as per the information received from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Nagpur.The people in this region are having a harrowing time with the scorching heat coupled with the scarcity of water and load shedding. The Government hospitals in each of these districts have been geared up to meet the challenges emerging from the heat wave conditions including sun strokes and other heat-related ailments.
In Madhya Pradesh, mercury soared over 45 degree celsius in some parts of the state today. State capital Bhopal recorded the hottest day of the season with mercury touching 42.3 degrees celsius. The Met office has predicted that during the next few days, the temperature in northern parts of Madhya Pradesh might be in the range of 44 to 47 degrees.
Heat wave is sweeping across most parts of Rajasthan ,Punjab and Haryana as well. Mercury touched 40 degree Celsius in the morning hours at Kota and Churu in Rajasthan while it crossed the 40 mark in various parts of Punjab.
In the National Capital, It was yet another hot day as the mercury remained at above normal levels, giving no respite to Delhiites.The maximum was recorded at 42.2 degree Celsius while the minimum was at 27.2 degree Celsius.
