The severe heat wave conditions in various districts of Vidarbha region has further aggravated. Nagpur city recorded the maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius yesterday which was also the highest maximum temperature in the region for the day.
The city also reregistered a new high in the month of May after the span of two years. The highest maximum temperature of 46.9 degrees Celsius was registered on 26th of May last year. As per the available data relating to the climatic features of the city during May, the highest maximum temperature of 47.8 degrees Celsius was recorded on 26th of May1956.
While Chandrapur and Brahmapuri registered the maximum temperature of 46.6 degrees Celsius, Amravati and Buldhana with 46.5 degrees and Wardha with 46 degrees Celsius were amongst the other hot-spots in the region yesterday.
Entire Rajasthan is in grip of severe heat wave. Churu was the hottest place in the state where maximum temperature was recorded at 48.5 degree Celsius yesterday. Our correspondent reports that maximum temperature was above 47 degree Celsius at most of the places in Bikaner Division.
Delhiites reeled under a scorching 43.2 degrees Celsius yesterday , the highest temperature for the season yet, and it is likely to get worse in the coming days. The day temperature was four notches above normal while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.8 degrees Celsius.
Normal life was affected in Punjab and Haryana as heat wave conditions intensified in the region. Hisar in Haryana was the hottest with a maximum of 46 degrees Celsius. Narnaul in Haryana recorded a maximum of 45.6 degrees, six degrees above normal, followed by Bhiwani 44.4 and Ambala and Karnal 42 degrees Celsius.
Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 41 degrees, up by three degrees above normal. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum of 44.4 degrees, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded 44.3 43.5 degrees Celsius. Met department said the condition will continue to prevail over next couple of days.
