Blistering heat wave continues unabated in most parts of North India.
In Delhi, mercury is soaring with each passing day. AIR Correspondent reports, there was no let up in the heat wave sweeping the national capital today.
Entire Rajasthan is in the grip of severe heat wave conditions. Churu was the hottest place today where mercury touched 46 degree Celsius. At Sri Ganganagar, maximum temperature was recorded at 45.8 and at Jaipur, it was 43.5 degree Celsius.
Our correspondent reports that due to severe heat, timings of MGNREGA works have been reduced and the district administration of Jaipur and Ajmer have ordered closure of all schools till the 8th of this month,although monsoon has almost knocked at the southern parts of the state.
In Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh, summer vacations for primary classes upto 5th class, have been extended by one week. The classes from sixth onwards will start from tomorrow after the vacation.
In Haryana, the government has decided to extend summer vacations by one week for all the classes. The decision has been due to heat wave.
