Delhiites continue to be in the grip of an intense heat wave as mercury is soaring with each passing day. AIR Correspondent reports, there was no let up in the heat wave sweeping the national capital today. He says with delayed monsoon and the maximum temperature shooting up seven degrees above normal to 43.5 degrees Celsius, the capital reeled under prolonged summer heat for yet another day. Owing to the continuing spell of scorching heat, Delhiites, who ventured out during the day, were seen either wrapped up in scarfs or carrying umbrellas. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has extended the summer vacation of city schools by one week in view of the prevailing heat wave. All government schools and majority of private schools were scheduled to reopen on Monday but now they will reopen on 9th of this month. The city will have a partly cloudy sky on Monday and minimum and maximum temperature will hover around 32 and 43 degrees Celsius .The Met office has predicted that the much-awaited monsoon rain may arrive in the capital this week.
